BanglaKids in 2021: Hooray for school!

The reopening of schools and the return of Bangladeshi children to the classroom were the most exciting news of 2021. Together, we met the biggest challenge in the history of BanglaKids. The one and a half year closure of Bangladeshi schools (17 March 2020–12 September 2021) and the threat of hunger for children from poor Bangladeshi families during the coronavirus crisis.

Sending letters to children in Bangladesh

Children want to know who supports them. What do you want to know about children? How are they doing after 1.5 years of school closures? Until February 15, 2022, you can delight them with a few lines, as well as family photos. Rules and tips for writing letters can be found here. We will send letters to Bangladesh electronically and bring the originals to the children as soon as possible.

Increase in payments for BanglaKids children from 1 January 2022

Dear donors, as of 1 January 2022, we are forced to increase the amounts of donations for children in the BanglaKids program after 7 years. This is due to inflation, the effects of the covid-19 pandemic and a noticeable increase in the price of staple foods in Bangladesh, especially rice. By increasing contributions we will maintain the ability to provide children with a nutritious diet.

Connecting hearts - snippets from Bangladesh

I bent down to the beggar lying on the street and put a few Taka in her hand. In an attempt to please her, I stroked her black hair and emaciated face. Her eyes lit up, she smiled and stroked me back. There was a connection. A connection of hearts. And so this year's monitoring trip was like that.

Bangladesh in Eliška's heart

Eliška Hronková is the coordinator of a sister project Chalantika. In autumn 2021 she travelled to Bangladesh for a monitoring trip for the very first time. The fears of developing a disease as well as the fears of spiders and snakes were replaced by joy, unforgettable moments with children, princess afternoons, volleyball matches and photoshoots with soldiers.
