BanglaKids 2019: What have we achieved together?

Yes, it has been an unforgettable year. Bachelor graduates, first nurses, fish farming, bridge, school playground and fans, donor meetings and celebrations of 20th anniversary. Not to mention the first ever Czech run across Bangladesh, the movie BanglaKIDS, friends on motorbikes and many other activities. See what your help has done in 2019.

-> CHILDREN AND STUDENTS <-

1,278 students, 10 Bachelors degrees and 3 nursing graduates

In 2019, you kindly supported the education of 1,278 children and students from Bangladesh's poorest families. That's 103 children more at the end of the year than in 2018! You have provided education, lunches, school supplies, uniforms and medical care for children in villages and accommodation, all-day meals, cultural and sports programs at boarding schools.

A total of 10 students received their bachelor's degree in December 2019, obtaining the chance to find a well-paid job and improve their family's standard of living at the same time. The first 3 of our students graduated from the newly opened BANI institute in the field of nursing and they will help people in hospitals. Thanks to your help, a laborer’s daughter can become for example a nurse and an orphan a teacher. Thank you!

-> SUB PROJECTS <-

Fish will be added to the children's diet

The investment in the repair of 7 ponds at the Monoshapara boarding school will allow to breed up to 20,000 fish. The money from the sale will enrich the school budget and the children's menu in the school canteen will also be improved. We wish Monoshapara a big fish haul and the children to be healthy as a clam!

Playground for children from Koligram

Thanks to Czech donors, children from the Koligram village school will have a new playground! It is being created in the place of a former pond, which is being gradually covered by river sand. The children can't wait to play there after school. We are pleased about their joy and thankful to you!

Safe bridge to the school in Ambari

A new wooden bridge in front of the Ambari school replaced the old bamboo one. It will help children safely conquer the last canal on their way to school. This is a necessary aid in an area where almost everything is underwater 9 months a year. We thank the donors for their financial contribution and wish the children a firm step on their education path.

30 fans are already helping children and more of them are needed

Temperatures in Bangladesh usually rise by 34°C or more. Hot and humid climate is difficult to bear. In the daytime, this makes it difficult for children to study, at night to sleep. Children at the Monoshapara boarding school have been feeling better since June. You have bought 30 new fans to enable airflow and moderate cooling in rooms and classrooms. Thank you!

PS: The need for new fans continues to persist in other schools. You can help here.

-> UNIQUE MEETINGS <-

Czech donor met children in Bangladesh

During a monitoring trip, the donor Patrik Kantor traveled with us to Bangladesh to meet the children he was helping. His drone photos and videos helped us create videos that you had the opportunity to watch during the Gala. Thank you!

We have experienced Bangladesh in the Czech Republic

You don't necessarily have to go to Bangladesh to get personally acquainted with this country. The last time you have experienced Bangladesh with us was in Frýdek-Místek. Authentic videos, stories, Bangla way of potato peeling and a photo corner with a competition have been successful.

Gala for BanglaKids – children were helped by celebrities in saree

Love takes many forms. In October 26 2019, it was dressed in a sari and helped poor Bangladeshi children give thanks to celebrities. This happened during the Gala of the BanglaKids program. In 20 years of its existence, this platform has helped 7,200 Bangladeshi children go to school. The evening was hosted by Barbora Černošková, a sports commentator of Czech TV. The patron of the event was Adam Zábranský, a member of the city council of Prague.

You will find out all about the unique Gala in this article. Get inspired by videos, enjoy the photos and keep supporting Bangladeshi children. Thank you for your love!

-> GREAT GUY – OR HELP FULL OF ADVENTURES <-

Czech journalist ran across Bangladesh for Bangladeshi children

Tomáš Poláček, an adventurer and journalist of the magazine Reportér, is the first Czech to run across Bangladesh. In March 2019, he completed 13 marathons (more than 500 km) during 2 weeks and managed with help of other donors to collect 206,260 crowns for Bangladeshi children from the slum of Chalantika! During the run he was supported and accompanied by the BanglaKids team.

BanglaKIDS film by a travel blogger Weef

In the BanglaKIDS film, Veronika – a travel blogger known as Weef – caught the lives of children and people in Bangladesh on camera. Poverty, living in a slum, child marriage, insane working conditions and underpaid workers mentioned in the film often have one common base – a limited access to education.

Czech film director zoomed in on Bangladesh

Film director Jana Počtová has filmed two episodes of the popular travel series Na cestě (On The Road) for Czech TV. The first one describes the lives of people and children in the capital Dhaka, the second all around Bangladesh. Both episodes can bring Bangladesh closer to you in an understandable way. You can watch them online in the Archive of Czech TV. Again, we provided support.

Bikers helped the children of Monoshapara

Two friends Svatopluk Měrka and Honza Veselý made an adventurous journey from Vietnam to the Czech Republic on motorbikes to help Bangladeshi children. They have crossed over 17,500 km and seen 14 countries within 72 days. In Bangladesh, they met a supported girl and raised funds for an emergency power system for the Monoshapara boarding school in the BanglaKids Energy call. Thank you very much on the children's behalf and on behalf of the BanglaKids team! :-)

-> WE GROW TOGETHER <-

BanglaKids - we are still growing

For its 20th anniversary, BanglaKids was given a new logo for 2019 with a subtitle "We grew up together!". And it's true. We are still growing. All the children, all the donors, and also the BanglaKids team.

On September 2, 2019 Anička Zýková – our coordinator – gave birth to a beautiful baby girl called Bedřiška. We heartily welcome her to the world and wish her parents a lot of joy, love and wisdom in her upbringing!

-> THANK YOU <-

We are thankful to all Czech, Slovak and international donors for supporting disadvantaged children in the BanglaKids program. All children and all gifts are important. We are thankful to those individual and corporate donors, without whom this generous assistance to Bangladeshi children would not be possible.

Dear donors, we greatly appreciate your support. Thank you for your generosity on the behalf of all supported children and the BanglaKids team. In Bengali it's DHONNOBAD! :-)
