Teddy Bears on Their Way to Kids in Bangladesh

Part 5: The teddies are arriving to Bangladesh

Here we go! Kamil had us over later this week. We had a nice chat with his lovely wife and slept in a rocking chair. We liked that a lot. :-) Next day we jumped into a special vacuum sleeping bag to keep ourselves warm on the trip. Everyone except our brother Cuddles fit in. Being a big teddy though, he won’t mind traveling without a sleeping bag. We pack, we load, we say goodbye, and we cry a little… Our trip goes this way: Prague – Istanbul – Dhaka.

Part 4: Preparing for the long journey (April 2015)

Our hopes are high. The situation in Bangladesh grew calmer. We can’t wait. Our teddies are in good shape: they have enough to eat; they sleep, play together, and help the BanglaKids team. In the evenings, they look at children’s pictures, and at nights, they dream about the faraway land. In a couple of days, they’ll set out on a long journey: Prague – Istanbul – Dhaka – Koligram – children! :-) We’re so excited!

School kids are alright though and that’s good. We’ll have to wait some time before meeting the children. We won’t be able to fly by the end of March. Well, that’s life. For now, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for them and spend our time reasonably. How about we learn some Bengali? We start with the most beautiful sentence: “I love you,” or “Ami tomake balobashi” in Bengali. You can listen to it here.

Part 2: Moving to Prague (February 2015)

When the teddies grew up a little, they jumped one by one to a large box that was carried away by the postman. Where to? Destination: ADRA. They will make some friends and get a bit of experience, the doctor will have a look at them and then they’ll fly away to the faraway land called Bangladesh. Bed, warmth, and gentle handling included. Have a look yourself and see how they like it here.

Part 1: The birth (December 2014)

How are teddies born? One day, Lucie, Irena, Zdeňka, Helena, and Jitka met and decided they wanted to make children in the faraway country of Bangladesh happy. But how? They put their heads together and an idea emerged. They set to work, crocheted, sewed, and knitted. Lo and behold, suddenly, there were teddies alive and well under their hands. They were blue, green, red with orange ears, and multicolored with cute white snouts, too. One teddy after another was born. Well, aren’t they beautiful?
