Greetings from faraway Bangladesh. My name is Raisha Mahamuda Eva, and I’m nine years old. I live with my parents and my younger sister in a crowded rented apartment in Dhaka, where we have to make do with very little. We went through our hardest times last year, when my dad had a stroke and ended up in the hospital. This terrifying experience, combined with our financial struggles, affected me deeply, but at the same time, it sparked a huge desire in me to help others—because my big dream is to become a doctor. In the future, I want to treat poor, sick people and spare other families the fear that we ourselves have experienced. My dad now works as a driver, and my mom earns extra money by tutoring, but their uncertain income barely covers our expensive rent, and there’s nothing left for my school supplies or uniform. Despite this, I study very hard at school; I love Bengali, painting, and dancing. Will you please help me stay in school so I can make my dream come true?
