Hello, my name is Momin, and I’ll be celebrating my twelfth birthday soon. I live with my family in Dhaka in a single small room, and even though we went through a difficult time when a fire completely destroyed our home, we’re not giving up. My dad works as a bricklayer, but his irregular income is barely enough to cover rent and basic food. That’s why my mom sews beads onto saris to make extra money, and I work hard to help her after school—I’ve gotten really good at it (check out my photos—you’ll see for yourself). Even so, I really enjoy going to school, where I’m in sixth grade, and math is my favorite subject. During recess, I love playing soccer or badminton with my friends. My biggest dream is to become an army officer in the future so that I can faithfully serve my country and take good care of my parents. Without the help of donors, however, it would be difficult for me to continue my education, because we don’t have enough money for school supplies or a uniform.
