My name is Joshua Cris Costa, and I want to tell you my life story. When I was only two months old, my father divorced my mother, leaving her to raise me all alone. My mother, Florence Costa, works as a cleaner in a hospital and earns very little. Life was never easy for us, and she worked tirelessly every day to make sure I had food, shelter, and a chance to go to school.
When I was in kindergarten, my mother made one of the hardest decisions of her life and sent me to live with her brother’s family in the village. She did this so I could grow up in a safer and more stable environment, even though it meant being apart from her. Growing up away from my mother was difficult, and I often missed her love, warmth, and presence. Despite these challenges, I learned to be strong, patient, and hopeful. I have always tried to do my best in school, and my teachers on BASC say I am polite, gentle, and eager to learn.
I enjoy playing cricket with my friends, and little things like eating apples or chicken bring me joy. Even with all the hardships, I dream of a brighter future where I can becoming a pastor one day to serve God and make my mother proud and help others, and I hope that with your support, I can continue my education and move closer to that dream.
