New motorcycle in the mountains of Bangladesh
Recently, the new motorbike Bajaj Discover ST 125, started to swirl the dust on the narrow roads in the mountainous terrain of the Southeast of the Bangladesh. In the remote mountain regions with narrow zigzag roads, which are too narrow for other vehicles, helps this motorcycle together with other vehicles to the teachers and students of the boarding school AHTSS. The motorcycles help with food supplying of the school, transportation of the children to the doctor and also transportation of the school staff to the town offices.
Most of the students of this school come from the tribes from rural areas of the three districts (Ranganati, Banganati, Khagrachori), with approximately 1, 6 mil. inhabitants and almost 60 % of illiteracy. The villages are situated on the hills and in the valleys. An access to the villages is usually pathway, not a paved driveway. This means, that it can, in extreme cases, take to the students about 3 days of walking from the mountain village to the boarding-school and return to the school after holidays can be complicated. The motorcycles shorten the journey, the students are able to get to the school within one day. The motorcycle is also a way of communication between the teachers and the parents of the students. Sometimes it is very helpful in cases when somebody get ill.
For illustrating the situation, the nearest hospital is 29 km far from the school, in emergent cases it is necessary to travel 49 km to a better equipped hospital. In urgent cases the motorcycles replace a telephone communication, because in some areas it can be unstable. Therefore, the motorcycles have very wide utilization.

PS: The boarding-school AHTSS is situated in mountainous region of the southeast of Bangladesh, approximately 60 km eastwards from the city Chittagong in the province of the same name. In the school study 535 students, 150 of the students are supported by our donors.
