Monoshapara provides children with quality education

The Monosapara Boarding School has received a positive evaluation from the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA). The AAA team, comprised of education experts, conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Monosapara boarding school in August 2023 to ensure that the institution meets the required educational standards.

Monoshapara

The Monosapara Boarding School is located on the northern border of Bangladesh with India, in the province of Mymensingh, approximately 193 km north of the capital city, Dhaka. Students here can receive complete primary education (grades 1-5) and full secondary education (grades 6-12). Currently, more than 600 children study here, with 159 of them supported by the BanglaKids program donors.

The school is situated on a hill, with beautifully landscaped greenery, flowers, and palm trees on the campus. Rice, various vegetables, coconut palms, mango trees, and breadfruit trees are cultivated in the school area. Four years ago, in collaboration with BanglaKids, the school invested in the restoration of 7 ponds, allowing for the breeding of up to 20,000 fish. The school enjoys a pleasant microclimate and utilizes renewable energy sources.

Accreditation Evaluation

The accreditation evaluation involved a thorough examination of the education system, including interviews with students and staff. The AAA accreditation team particularly commended the Monosapara boarding school for the following:

  • Quality of Education: The school provides quality education, preparing students for further studies and entry into the workforce.

  • Well-Maintained Facilities: The school campus is clean and well-maintained. Minor defects are addressed with consideration for financial constraints. Students actively participate in caring for the school grounds alongside teachers and the school administration.

  • Transparent and Responsible Financial Management: The school demonstrates good financial management, making reasonable investments in support projects such as fish farming to improve the quality of children's meals.

  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement: The school leadership is committed to providing students with quality education and maintaining high standards.

The overall evaluation score of 68% is considered very good, but there is still room for improvement.

Development Recommendations

The AAA team presented several development recommendations for the school's consideration, including these challenges:

  • Strengthening Collaboration: Continued strengthening of collaboration between students and school leadership on school and extracurricular projects.

  • Expansion of Study Offerings: The addition of vocational courses to the curriculum.

  • Improved School Promotion: Better promotion of the school to the public.

The school administration, according to the school director, Mr. Gleen Dango, values the accreditation granted and the suggestions provided by the AAA accreditation team. Considering financial possibilities, the implementation of development recommendations will be carefully considered.
