Grand opening of boarding schools

Joyful, festive, touching. That is how we can best describe the opening of the boarding schools on the 12th September 2021 after the Bangladeshi government decided to lift the year and a half closure. COVID-19 changed the fates of students who are now coming back to their studies. The dream came true, and boarding schools have welcomed the first students.

The schools were properly cleaned before the grand opening: the dust was wiped off, the floors and windows were washed in the classrooms, the yard was swept and the leaves were picked up from the ground. After these long months everything had to be put in order again. The teachers warmly welcomed students back to school. Needless to say that safety measures were in place to protect the students, teachers and the staff: temperature measurement, disinfection, and the face masks in the classrooms. Some schools have gone even further and organized the return of students in groups with mandatory quarantine. The members of the Pathfinder Scout Club were helping with the grand opening at Monoshapara boarding school. They were wearing beautiful colorful uniforms. All students were given flowers, and the younger ones were also given a balloon. The Deputy Headmaster of Monoshapara school gave a solemn speech during the grand opening and emphasized how happy he is that the students are coming back to school: “Dear students, we are delighted to welcome you all back after a year and a half break. I hope that you will start your studies with enthusiasm. On behalf of the teaching staff, I can promise you that we want to give you the best we know and that we will strive for a full resumption of teaching. I hope you will help us with it.”

What are students saying about coming back to school? Ronald Rema, 10th grader: “I am excited and happy that our school is open again. This year we are taking state exams. I will need to study hard to prepare for them. The teachers at school will definitely help me. I am very happy I am back to the boarding school and have reunited with my friends.”Another 10th grader, Glady, was also very excited to meet her friends: “I am very happy that after a year and a half we are back. It was the happiest day of my life when i came back to school and met my friends. We do not know what will happen next, but it will not stop us enjoying this moment of coming back. I hope we will study well.”We keep our fingers crossed for all the children at BanglaKids.
