Children received warm scarves, a cake, and shared energy

Do they have winter in Bangladesh? Yes, they do! While snow may not fall, temperatures can drop below 10°C. That's why the children received warm scarves for Christmas to keep them warm on cooler days. But that wasn't all they got thanks to the "Joy Jar" initiative. The distribution of (sweet) energy also brought them great joy!

Practical gifts for all children

It's already a tradition. At the end of the year, children in our schools in Bangladesh receive Christmas gifts, and Christmas 2022 was no exception. The main gift was 2 scarves made of warm fabric, or rather, 2 larger pieces of cozy fabric that boys and girls can "wrap" themselves in on cold days to stay warm.

A new addition to the children's gifts was the "distribution of sweet energy" in the form of a cake! The ceremonial cutting of the shared cake became a joyful social event. The children sang a song, teachers cut the cake, distributed it to the children, and they immediately ate it. And the energy of joy and happiness (highlighted by a sweet dot) spread throughout the school. How little is needed for children's happiness? Recharge yourself today with the energy of joy and happiness that flows into the world through children's smiles and shining eyes.

Thank you for shaping the lives and future of Bangladeshi children in this way.

Donors ask how they can make things better for the children

The Money-Box-of-Joy has been a savings piggy bank for children for more than 5 years. Once a year, we break it and buy gifts for all children and orphans in the BanglaKids program. The keyword here is all. We do not want to evoke unpleasant feelings in the children and create tension in their relationships by giving gifts to some and not others. The Joy Jar brings joy to all children!

In the past, buying gifts was a big topic for us. From individual gifts, we switched to collective ones through the Joy Jar. This article nicely maps the history, prehistory, and current practice.

This is our response to occasional donor inquiries about individual gifts, which we understand as an expression of your relationship with the child you support. However, individual gifts are not the best way to gift Bangladeshi children. The Joy Jar is, as it serves all children.

Thank you for your support and the joy you generously give to the children.
