BanglaKids in 2023: Relief and Development

Life is not easy. The world is boiling in many places, but your love and solidarity are as constant as the movement of the stars in the clear night sky. You keep helping. You keep changing the lives of children in Bangladesh. Thank you. Thank you all.

The election of the President of the Czech Republic, the parliamentary elections in Slovakia, the coronation of Charles III in Britain, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and the recent tragic shooting at the Faculty of Philosophy in Prague have been etched in our memories as moments of the year 2023.

For BanglaKids, it has been a year of continuous efforts and meeting the needs of underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Let's now take a closer look at the year 2023.

-> CHILDREN, STUDENTS, FAMILIES <-

1,236 students, 5 graduates, 81 nursing pledges

In 2023, through the BanglaKids program, you supported 1,236 children and students. This number included 151 orphans and 89 college and university students.

We are delighted to have 5 graduates who have completed their studies with a Bachelor's degree. Four of them are teachers and one is going into business. We also celebrate 4 nurses and 1 dental technician. An important milestone was reached by 81 nursing students who, in October, began a new stage in their professional careers with the solemn nursing pledge inspired by Florence Nightingale.

Thank you for your unwavering support of all these children and students.

Good News = Nutritious Food for Children

The increased donations for the BanglaKids programme from January 1, 2022 has been bearing fruit for two years now in the form of quality meals for children in rural areas and in boarding schools. This brings joy not only to the children, but also to the teachers and parents. And, of course, our entire team, along with you. Thank you for providing the children with basic necessities and nutritious food.

Gratitude for Chicken and Goats

One mother said, "Thank you, I never thought I would receive such a gift. I will take good care of the chickens. They will be my source of eggs and money for the household".

Words of thanks and gratitude echoed from the mouths of women and men as 219 chickens and 70 goats were distributed to the poorest families in Bangladesh. Thank you for helping children, orphans and families through the Gift-o-mat (gift e-shop).

-> SUPPORTING PROJECTS <-

Drinking water from a new well!

Children at the Rameshorpur village school drink water from a new well! From a depth of 67 metres, a submersible pump supplies 50 children and 70 families with quality water, free of arsenic and iron. This is a beautiful example of community solidarity. You are part of it.

Thank you very much!

Repaired roofs that don't let raindrops in

"It's not raining here anymore!" the children rejoice. And where is it not raining? In the classrooms of two village schools in southern Bangladesh. And why is that? Because both schools, Murogasha and Kashinmagor, have had their roofs repaired.

50 fans blowing beautifully

Thanks to you, 50 new fans have been installed at KMMS boarding school. They're humming a bit, they're blowing nicely. They will refresh the students in the school on hot days and in the dormitory at night. Their breeze will improve sleep and grades :) Thank you very much.

New pump = bumper harvest of bananas and vegetables

Plant, water, grow and eat. That's the motto of the children at the Jalchatra boarding school in northern Bangladesh. Here we installed a new pump to irrigate the school fields where they grow their vegetables and banana trees. There's nothing like fresh bananas and healthy vegetables from your own garden. Local, seasonal, organic :)

All of these projects have been made possible because of you. Thank you for the health, smiles and happiness of the children of Bangladesh!

-> WHAT IS NOT TOO VISIBLE <-

Analysis called "peer review"

At the end of 2023, we started to work on a peer review, a multi-faceted analysis of the BanglaKids programme and its results on both the Bangladeshi and Czech sides. The aim is to obtain quantitative and qualitative data for continuous improvement of our activities and the future direction of the programme.

IT and Religious Freedom

Work continues on an IT application to process children's data in Bangladesh. And we have been working with parents on issues of religious freedom and education, which is compulsory in Bangladesh.

These activities are not "very visible". However, they are extremely important for the development and effectiveness of our work with children in Bangladesh.
